Uwe Boll, the man most responsible for turning video game movies into a laughing stock, has been ordered to pay his (soon-to-be?) distributor $2.1M for violation of contract and libel.

Holy crap, I don’t believe it. Postal, the cinematic disaster directed by Uwe Boll that opened on only four screens and spurred a mass exodus of 200 people from a theatre where the film was being shown for free, has won the “Best of Show” award at the Hoboken International Film Festival, according to a press release from Postal developer Running with Scissors.

Postal’s Executive Producer, Vince Desi, tried to play the win off as the fans being heard — but you know he was shitting himself, too.

When the fans speak, WE WIN… We know this from our experience in the game industry and now the film business just confirms it. The continued success of the POSTAL franchise in all its forms is proof that democracy works; you cannot stop what’s in the hearts of the people. Freedom will always triumph over tyranny.

If that isn’t enough, Uwe Boll won the “Best Director” award. I am without words.

The film was nominated for three other awards: Best Supporting Actor (Dave Foley), Best Script and Best Editing.

Postal III will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC sometime in 2009.

Patrons fleed Uwe Boll’s Postal last Friday, with nearly 200 leaving inside the first ten minutes of the film. In an unrelated story, Uwe Boll’s Postal may have been behind the as-yet-unsolved anthrax attacks of 2001.

Simply put: a pretty fascinating interview with Uwe Boll in which the embattled filmmaker discusses Postal, internet critics, and how video game movies are considered second-class by Hollywood. Also, he says Tara Reid can’t act.

Uwe Boll, feeling frustration from seeing his latest film, Postal, practically banned from theatres in anticipation of real movies, vented his frustrations on Postal’s official website as only Uwe can.
