Infinity Ward, 2K Games, Insomniac Games say ‘No’ to Trophies

Well, this Firmware 2.40 that was supposed to put the PS3 on par with the Xbox 360 has been nothing but trouble for Sony. First, right off the bat they had to take the update down because it was a cold-hearted console killer, and now it seems that those of us who have a working version of 2.40 won’t be getting all the trophies we thought we were.

Case in point: Criterion Games and Naughty Dog have announced that they intend to support trophies by releasing patches for Burnout Paradise and Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. I guess because they have nothing better to do than swim in piles of gold deblunes. However, as these two studios have said “yes” to trophies, three more have said no: Infinity Ward, 2K Games and Insomniac Studios.

IW and 2K have flat-out said no to the idea of trophies coming to either Call of Duty 4 or Civilization Revolution. Hmm, Infinity Ward screwing over PS3 owners. What a shock.

As for Insomniac, Community Relations Manager Bryan Intihar stated that the studios’ top priority is the completion of Resistance 2, but didn’t say that they would never provide trophy support.

I’m curious to see what other games will come out with trophy support. I know that I, for one, would gladly play through Metal Gear Solid 4 or Grand Theft Auto IV again if I could bump up my trophy score… listen to me… I’ve turned into an achievement whore all over again.
