Nintendo Planning Marketing Blitz for ‘Wii Fit’

According to industry analyst Michael Pachter, Nintendo is planning their largest marketing campaign in the 100+ year history of the company. For what game or service is so chock full o’ nuts potential that it warrants the greatest marketing offensive from arguably the biggest name in the video game industry?

Wii Fit… fuckin’ eh.

Wii Fit isn’t due on US store shelves until mid-May, so you can imagine that we’re going to have to absurb a LOT of Wii Fit advertising. Now I don’t know about you, but I am not a person who becomes more inclined to buy a game like Wii Fit the more I hear about Wii Fit because I find advertising much like popular music — you may love a song, but when you’re bombarded with a singular song over and over again (Read: “Hero”, “Never Gonna Give You Up”) you come to hate it.

But I guess when you consider the popularity of the Wii coupled with the already pre-existing hype surrounding Wii Fit from E3, GDC, and everywhere else on the ‘net, I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to assume that Wii Fit is going to be a major success for Nintendo. When you throw in the fact that other titles promise to utilize the balance board that comes packaged with Wii Fit, the offer really becomes too good to pass up.

Now that you’ve been warned, prepare yourselves for an onslaught of Wii Fit advertising over the next two months. Wii Fit is scheduled for a US release date of May 19th.

Wii Fit.

  1. All of a sudden I feel like buying a copy of Wii Fit for everyone in my family. I have no idea why.

Honestly, I am really sold on this product, sadly. Me being a fat ass and my enjoyment of buying all things Nintendo just makes it a perfect fit (a perfect fit.. get it… hyuck hyuck)
