Illegal Modding Operation Foiled in England

Two men who were in the illegal console modding business were arrested after trying to peddle their services at a local computer fair. The two men apparently were operating a stand where, in addition to selling both modded and unmodded Nintendo Wiis, they were offering illegally copied Xbox 360 and Wii games, as well as counterfeit DVDs.

One of the two men, neither of whom can be named until further investigations have been conducted, was apparently running a modding “factory” in his garage. Documentation found at the first man’s home led police to the Wolverhampton area, where other counterfeiting equipment was confiscated.

The second man, a resident of Leyland in Preston, Lancashire (in England, people. Don’t panic.), was found to have hundreds of Wii and Xbox 360 games, both illegally copied and legit.

Managing director of ELSPA, Michael Rawlinson, praises the raids on these two nitwit’s homes as proof of the ELSPA and local authorities’ continued commitment to weed out illegal counterfeiters, saying:

The raid at The Robin Park Spots Complex highlights the ongoing commitment demonstrated by local Trading Standards authorities in stamping this kind of operation out. ELSPA would like to thank everyone involved for their work instigating this investigation and helping to protect local traders and the general community from the effects of pirated goods.

Let this be a reminder to all of you out there: DON’T ADVERTISE YOUR ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES AT A DAMN JOB FAIR!
