Microsoft Australia: We stand by Gfk figures

Last week Microsoft’s Australian branch claimed victory in what will become known throughout the annals of history as “the GTA wars” (dun dun DUUUUUUUN). In response to this, SCEA(ustralia) responded to IGN by saying, in a much more professional manner of course, that Microsoft was full of shit (read: Completely Wrong). Well, Microsoft Australia has responded to Sony’s response.
A Microsoft spokesperson had the following to say:
SCEA today made claims refuting statements issued by Microsoft last week about the sales of Grand Theft Auto IV on the Xbox 360.
Microsoft used the official Gfk figures to issue the release in question. We stand by those figures issued by Gfk.
Look, it’s obvious that this won’t be resolved any time soon. Not until all the figures are compiled, at least. But I think it’s safe to say that Microsoft has the definite edge. After all, the Xbox 360 has sold more units than the PlayStation 3, which gives the console a distinct advantage — at least stateside. I’m not going to pretend for a moment to know how console sales are shaping up in Australia since nobody writing for us lives there.
We’ll keep you guys posted on this, as I have a sneaking suspicion that Sony is going to say something.

I agree that Microsoft still have the edge and its Xbox is better than Play Station
