CoD4 Map Pack Dated; PS3 Gets Shafted Yet Again
If you’re a PS3 owner of Call of Duty 4, the shafting continues. First it was the announcement of a “Game of the Year” edition of Call of Duty 4, where no PlayStation 3 edition was announced. Binge Gamer has tried to contact Infinity Ward about a possible PS3 version of CoD4:GotY, but as of this writing we have not received any sort of replies to our emails. We’ll keep trying.
Now PS3 owners continue to get the shaft as the new Call of Duty 4 ‘Variety Map Pack’ will not be arriving on the PS3 until some three weeks after the Xbox 360 release. Now six months ago I would’ve said this was an issue with getting content approved for PSN, however after owning a PS3 for some time it’s become apparent that many developers, Infinity Ward included, have been screwing PS3 owners out of the same “perks” that Xbox 360 owners have been getting for a long time. In the case of Infinity Ward, when you consider that the initial patch was late coming to the PS3 (which didn’t fix the cross-platform problems that the patch fixed on Xbox 360), there has been no PS3 GotY announced, and now the map pack is being delayed for the PS3, it really isn’t hard to see how some PS3 owners are pretty pissed off.
Regardless, whether you own a PS3 or Xbox 360, when the map pack is released it’s going to run you $10 (800 MSPoints). You’re paying $10 for four maps.
UPDATO MAGNIFICO: Okay, so according to Amazon there will be a Call of Duty 4: Game of the Year Edition for the PS3. Of course, it’s scheduled for a release three years weeks after the Xbox 360 version of the same game. Oh, how I love equality. (NOTE: Whoops! The “years” thing was a legit typo. My bad.)

People saying that PS3 has “7 cores more to go”, ‘good luck with your little DVD drives’, and “Microsoft paid 50 million to get the maps out early”. Honestly, why lie? You’re only cheating yourselves. Post A: Xbox claims 3 cores but I’m not sure I buy that. PS3 claims one core. Cores don’t matter much, it’s not like they make a game with 10 threads for processing. The 360 and PS3 are more or less the same there. Post B: I’ll admit it’s a nice feature to have built in Blu-ray. I don’t have either next-gen player yet, no real need for it. In my opinion, if you are concerned about 1080p movies, you should at least have a 1080p capable TV. With that, you should have a proper A/V setup instead of using your gaming console, but that’s just me. Post C: I’m willing to bet that Microsoft didn’t pay a dime to ‘get the maps out early’, that’s just the way it goes. Look at how games sometimes get released earlier in Europe than in North America.
For the record I’m a 360 owner, not ‘proud’ because of it, but it works great for me and I’m happy with it.

Listen!! I have a 360 and a ps3 overall the 360 is better at the moment, because of online play, and u get achievements, bio, ect. i had cod4 on the 360 and got rid of it when rainbow six vegas 2 came out on xbox, then i got cod4 on the ps3 & find out the maps aint out on ps3 yet. rar!! + the graphics and feel to it is all wrong compared to the 360 version. and the ps3 pad is a lot harder to use than 360 pad for cod4. cant wait for haze tho! and blu ray all da way. lol

ok, ok, ok, i had an xbox once then i got the three red lights of death, while i was waiting a month to get my xbox back i bought a ps3. now i cant even sell my xbox at a reasonable price ( not gettin shafted by a gaming store). ive seen cod4 for xbox the graphics on the ps3 far surpass that of the xbox. the only thing the xbox might even have on the ps3 is the dash board ablity with out having to quit the game thats it. im sorry xbox fanboy’s but you own an inferior machine no need to get mad thats just how it is. period there is realy nothin you can say about it. o ya btw i posted this from my ps3 while downloading demo’s dont thing xbox can do that.

PS3 users can get shafted all they want because think about it in the coming years PS3 is going to dominate the gaming console. I don’t see an Xbox 720 coming out anytime soon and eventually and Xbox 360 is going to start losing its hype. So what if we have to wait 3 more weeks. It’s a business world and if someone has paid IW to release it on Xbox first then so be it.
If somebody offered you money to release you game on the Xbox first what would you say “Oh no, the would be unfair to the gaming community. Please take your money and donate it to some worthwhile charity.”.
As for the Xbox v PS3 war that goes on and on and on. I have a PS3, i like it, it serves it’s purpose. I have seen some games on the Xbox and they look graphically superior, but as a certain english chav would say, “Am i bothered?”
Looking forward to Civilisation and C&C on PS3 they should be interesting. As you can use a mouse and keyboard on the PS3 - why not release AOE style games. I love my PC for them games.

Well my look on this whole deal is I have a lot of friends who play death box and all of them always complain about oh i got the red ring of death and i havent seen my xbox for mounths now. I tell them well get a ps3 and u dont have to worrie about that.
Another one complains about well i just dont have enough money to pay for the online.
WEll LOOK HERE ALL U XBOX NEWBS PS3 Has online free-HD Bluerays Player- HAve just as much Quality as the xbox. Although the ps3 does not die after u have it. My ps3 holds up to 80GB of memory plus i can add an flash drive to give it 8 additional GB of memory.

I was personally offended by IW when we PS3 owners had almost 2 weeks of fucked up servers because they dedicated too many to XBL and not PSN, took them 2 week to switch enough servers over to PSN? dont think so, fuck IW and their shit map packs. I got CoD4 for PC for that reason alone, and maps will more than likely be free for PC, or you could ahem, “acquire” them by other means….

no doubt your ps3 exclusive games look real good and ur ps3 is quiet and pretty, but the 360’s louder sounding drive is b/c it reads faster on the outer edges where 90% of gaming software companies put their largest files for reading. hence better reading no need to copy to harddrive. higher read times are better than constant read times. go do alittle studying.
i laugh at 7cores why b/c for one, barely any programs not even games but programs take advantage of even 4 yet. and the fact that you think your 7 cores is spectacular is retarded. by 2010 amd and intel will skip 8 cores going straight to 12 for pcs. add this into the equation and the shtbox 720 could be less than 3 years down the road when 7 cores will mean nothing. if pcs are upto 12 within 2 years you idiots that are boasting about power that you can’t even use yet and will basically have a gaming system that never reached its potential. u guys just bought a very expensive blueray player which will probably phase out in 2 years aswell b/c hd content will be streaming everywhere so no real need for a disk, just a big harddrive. take alook at x264 h264 and wmv hd.
