Konichiwa, dudes and dolls! Today, March 1st 2010, is the second anniversary of this humble website’s launch. Since then we’ve had some ups, some downs, but we’ve been able to outlast many of the sites that were launched around the same time.

I wanted to take a minute to thank everybody for two years of support and let you all know that over the next year we’ll continue to provide the lot of you with the same original, borderline-insane content that we’ve become known for.

I also want to take a moment to thank Mike, Perry, Richard and even the intern, Elissa, for putting up with me over the past two years. Here’s to putting up with me for many, many more.

Platform Nation is Giving Stuff Away

Also, while you’re there do yourself a favor and check out a few of the podcasts. Believe it or not, they’re actually BETTER than ours… or more professionally done, at the very least.

As you’ve probably noticed, the website has been a little slow on the updates as of late. At the moment we’re waiting to finalize an agreement that will bring our quaint podcast (with a few minor alterations) to the masses. Yeah, we’re scared for them, too.

In addition to the podcast stuff, we’re also in the midst of some personnel changes around Binge Gamer. As those of you who’ve listened to The Mini-Bender before reading this have learned, Allison is no longer a member of the BG clan. She will be sorely missed, without a doubt, but we must forage onward. Between her departure and the other members of the site, you know… living their lives… things will be slow around here until, probably, early September.

Unless we get the podcast thing set in stone before September, in which case… yeah, we’ll still be doing the podcast. And there will still be a few posts going up in the next couple of weeks, including a GGYNP and this month’s entry into the Villain Hall of Fame.

Keep checking back over the next couple of weeks as we let you guys know what’s going on for BG for the future. You may like what we have in store… or not, in which case you can shove off I think.

Kidding. Kinda.

Site News: JW Explains The Slowing Updates

Konichiwa, dudes and dolls. As you’ve probably noticed over the past few weeks, site updates have slowed considerably. There are a number of reasons for this, some of which I’m not going to get into because… well, it’s frankly none of anyone’s business.

No offense.

However, I do feel I owe you guys a bit of an explanation, so here goes:

1.) Life

Christ, I’m lame.

Anyways, with our need to pay bills being our #1 priority, less time has been able to go into the site. It’s nothing personal and we’re not going away — it’s just gonna be a little slow for the next few weeks.

2.) E3
I’ll be honest with you guys: I don’t know how the hell this website got approved for E3. But we did. And we’re going. But the preparations for going, with the constant emailing and scheduling and everything else inbetween has taken a lot of time out of our schedule. It sucks.

But our E3 coverage will blow your motherfuckin’ minds, so it’ll be worth it.

3.) Side Projects
We all have our side projects. I’m not going to tell you guys what the others are doing (that would be rude), but I will tell you guys that I, JW, have been given a unique opportunity that I simply would have been batshit crazy to turn down. So there’s that.

My point in writing this? We haven’t forgotten about you guys and we’re not puttering out. Hell, I’d do the site by myself before I let this old bitch die. All I’m saying is that the combination of the new, non-news direction combined with everything else is going to be slowing the site down for a while.

But don’t fear — we’re here for the long haul.

JW’s Notes: Help Us Help the Starlight Children’s Foundation

JW’s NOTES: Okay, so I may have jumped to the conclusion that Ciji was a spokesperson for Starlight Children’s Foundation. In actuality she’s just really awesome, but not an official spokesperson. I apologize for the confusion.

Okay dudes and dolls, let’s get serious for a moment.

…no, serious serious, not eSerious.

Much better.

Every day thousands of children across the world are stricken with life-threatening illnesses; infectious diseases, cancer… stubbed their toe on an old rusty safe in an abandoned mine… hell if I know. The point is that their childhoods come to a screeching halt and their day-to-day lives become about extended stays in the hospital and constant, exhausting medical treatment. Starlight Children’s Foundation has been devoted to improving the morale of these kinds by providing entertainment and education for younglings suffering from prolonged illness.

So, what is a website that wants to do something genuine and heartfelt do? Well, we’re joining up with pro gamer, reality show starlet ~~and all around good guy~~ (sorry, was channeling my inner Dudley Do-Right) and longtime supporter of Starlight, Ciji “StarSlay3r” Thornton (the one who’s not Blue Steel) to raise a bit of awareness and hopefully some dough for the Starlight Children’s Foundation. She’s been championing their cause for ages and, after learning of what they do we figured that we could use our platform to give a helping hand — but not without a wee bit of help, and that’s where you come in.

Starting today, we’re going to have a button on our sidebar where you can donate to Starlight Children’s Foundation. I’m asking you fine people to lend a helping hand to the sick children. Click the button on the sidebar (or click HERE if you’re reading this) and lend a helping hand to some kinds who, frankly, deserve a little joy in their lives.
