CES 2010: Microsoft Announces ‘Game Room’

Even though I was born a little too late to appreciate the classic Arcade, I still have fond memories of sinking entirely too many quarters into cabinets at the local Aladdin’s Castle. Microsoft, hoping to pray on those feelings, has formally announced “Game Room”.

What is Game Room? In short, Game Room is a giant virtual arcade where you can play classic video games like Outlaw, Millipede and AstroSmash as well as many others (30 at launch). On the 360 you will be able to challenge your friends to friendly games and more games will surely be coming in the future.

Game Room sounds cool, don’t get me wrong, but I’m excited to see what will happen with some of the arcade titles on the Xbox LIVE Arcade. Games like Pac-Man and Galaga. If these games can be intergrated into the Xbox 360 Game Room, then I would dare say Microsoft has a winner.

So, when will we be seeing Game Room for ourselves? …this Spring. Sometime.
