CBS Rejects Original Dante’s Inferno Ad

The Dante’s Inferno Super Bowl ad mentioned on last week’s Bender won’t make it to television as intended. CBS censors rejected the spot as is, forcing Electronic Arts to modify the game’s tagline.

The original phrase “Go to Hell” has been changed to the less condemning “Hell Awaits” for the viewers’ sake. Although I can definitely see kids picking up the former curse from the commercial, I have to wonder why, in a game with more blood and boobs than a Eli Roth movie, the biggest issue is one tiny sentence.

The Hollywood Reporter has posted a video of the ad that will actually play come game day.
