Earlier today we passed along the awesome news that students at UC Berkeley would soon be able to take classes that taught them how to better themselves at the fine art of StarCraft. If you don’t go to UC Berkeley, however, you can head to West Virginia and play Guitar Hero in the local libraries.

The Kanawha Public Library in Charleston, West Virginia has introduced both Guitar Hero and Dance Dance Revolution as free activities, which the library hopes will drive more children to spend time at the library. Apparently the Kanawha Public Library is much more liberal with their sound policies than every other library I’ve ever visited.

Library manager Ellie Teaford explained the logic behind the decision:

We want to give kids something to do, and think of the library as a fun place to go.

Hey, if it works then go for it. Personally, I don’t mind the idea one bit, but I’m sure there will be some parents who cry foul and say that libraries are trying to corrupt children. To them, I ask one question: Why do you hate higher learning?
