Every since it’s release, PlayStation Home has been getting a lot of flack from people — including ourselves. Personally, I won’t even italicize PlayStation Home simply because I feel like it’s a slightly animated chat room.
Imagine IMVU on steroids.
Well, Sony may be starting to see the error in their ways. Speaking with Develop, PlayStation Home director Peter Edward acknowledges that maybe, possibly, Sony announced Home a bit early.
Initially, there was real excitement from people, because we were showing something really different and that had a lot of potential… And then there’s the realization that, well, we probably announced it too early – GDC 07 was a long time ago. I think there was sort of recognition amongst developers of ‘Oh, this is interesting, but there’s still a lot of work to be done.’
As they say in rehab, admittance is the first step on the long road to recovery. Yes, Sony did announce Home way too soon and it only got worse when Home was then delayed over, and over, and over again. Finally, when the app was released users found that it was, well, bland.
Unless you love bowling, in which case you probably freaking love it.
