In what is frankly the greatest news in the history of forever, Rockstar Games has FINALLY gotten around to making Max Payne 3. And, as it turns out, we called it.

Max Payne 3 is being developed by Rockstar Vancouver and will continue the story of Max, now a broken down middle-aged ex-cop who has left New York far behin. According to Rockstar founder Sam Houser, this is a new chapter in Max’s life:

We’re starting a new chapter of Max’s life with this game. This is Max as we’ve never seen him before, a few years older, more world-weary and cynical than ever. We experience the downward spiral of his life after the events of Max Payne 2 and witness his last chance for salvation.

…I love you, Sam Houser. I love you so hard.

But wait! The news gets better. Max Payne 3 is currently slated for a 2009 release across Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
