PS3 Firmware 3.0 Has Issues, but at Least it Won’t Explode Your Console

PS3 Explosion

I’m in love with the latest PS3 firmware update.

I would argue that it’s because of the nifty new features like the shortcuts to the PlayStation store and all the other spiffy options, but that’s a lie. It’s because of how magnificently sparkly the thing is. The majestic shimmering of the new XMB is hypnotic to me. I’m entranced by its glory, and it takes all my willpower to tear myself away from the screen each time I power up my console.

This is because I am—in fact—a ferret.

But not everyone has been so warm to welcome 3.0 (aka 3.00 to some, and FVCKIN’ POS!!@!11! to the rest). The damn thing seems to be plagued with problems including lockup/freezing for some games (especially Drake’s Fortune) and a plethora of controller issues (most notably with the Ceramic White DualShock 3).

While this is a problem that undoubtedly needs to be addressed, I remind you all of another firmware update that, around this time last year, bricked a number of Sony’s consoles. Kind of makes the issues with 3.0 seem like a mild itch rather than some international crisis, no?

‘msorry to disturb you with this message but i have a problem regarding the news you have published here.i have playstation 3 with 60 gb hard drive that plays both ps1 and ps2 games and after installing the 3.00 firmware i started having problems playng online, and 2 weeks later my console shutted down with a red light blinking constantly, now the console wont start at all.unfortunately there is no sony service where i live and the console’s warranty has already expired.i had to buy a second hand motherboard off ebay .i live in romania where sony doesn’t ofer service for som thing like this ,even if it’s their fault not mine’s .i played for 2-3 hours a day not 8-10 . so no one can tell me that this happened due to overheating , because it’s firmware .i am not the only one who has experienced this problem.i searched many sites and found out that many people had problems with their console due to the update . i don’t think that whriting here will get me any wheke
, i just hope that the next firmware won’t do the same damage so i would have to cough up another 80 £ for another motherboard. if it where my fault i would understand but it’s the fault of the people at sony . i don’t want to buy another playstation 3 because i want to play ps1 and ps2 games to .thanks for reading this message and i am waiting for an response from you and hope it will get me some where.

  2. I just wanted to say thanks! I was clicking around on Yahoo when I found this blog. After spending some time on your weblog I’ve come up with some ideas for a new website. I just thought I’d let you know
