Yesterday we got you all caught up with the continuing drama between Sony’s top dog Kaz Hirai and Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg. Basically, Hirai says that Sony is still the industry leader and the Xbox 360 lacks longevity, while Greenberg says that Sony is “out of touch” with gamers and the industry.
Well, Wedbush Morgan analyst and everybody’s bestest friend Michael Pachter has decided to play mediator and tell both sides that they’re right.
Aaron Greenberg is right that Sony likely won’t catch Microsoft in the U.S. until at least 2014. Kaz is right that Sony will likely catch Microsoft globally.
Pachter went on to explain that while Microsoft will continue to bitch slap Sony in North America, Sony will forever hold the lead in Japan — which makes Europe the battleground. Sony is behind by about two million in Europe, and could theoretically catch up to Microsoft by 2011 if the winds of change blow in Sony’s favor.
While Sony and Microsoft continue to snipe at each other from their golden palaces, Pachter did lament on one simple, obvious fact: “Funny that nobody is talking about catching the Wii…”

Pachter stuff is non-news, this is worse than press releases from Kotaku!
