JW’s Classmate Meets 12 Year-Old on Xbox LIVE, Rapes Him “Repeatedly”

codey-hawksYesterday you surely heard the story of Codey R. Hawks, a nineteen year-old Michigan lad who took the bus to Parma, Ohio to rape a 12 year-old boy “repeatedly”. Now while most websites are going to go by the book and pointing out that this is not the fault of Xbox LIVE, I’m going to take a different route.

You see, I went to high school with this guy.

Codey Hawks is originally from Burton, Michigan, which is a suburb of Flint. As a few of you may know, I live in Flint and went to school in Burton my junior year. He was always considered to be a bit of an odd kid, but I don’t think anybody thought he’d have it in him to cross state lines to rape a pre-teen.

A lot of people sort of saw this kind of thing coming, and unfortunate that it did. I really didn’t see it in him that he would go to this length, but as you’ve put it out there, neither did anyone else. I do feel a bit bad for Codey in the means that he was tormented by others for quite some time; the tormenting helped shape who he is. And then again he could’ve certainly avoided this, as could have the parents. The parents of this 12-year old child should have at least got background info on Codey before deciding to let him stick around, but he duped them all. Codey was a decent kid a majority of the time, but I can understand some of why he might have done this.

A good little video to sum it up a bit:
