It is in the opinion of this commentator that in the last month or so Jack Thompson has lost what miniscule amounts of sanity he had left. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me if he started claiming that a tea-sipping minotaur told him that clouds were but flavorless cotton candy. His slip into total madness can be traced back to his attempt to more or less backdoor ban video games in Utah.

Jobless and desperate, Thompson moved to the most socially conservative state in the Union in a last ditch effort to strike at the heart of his mortal enemy, the Hitler Youth Strauss Zelnick. Thompson’s attempts to scare, manipulate and lie to the Utah Legislation ultimately failed when Utah Governor Jon Huntsman vetoed the Thompson bill.

As readers of Binge Gamer may recall, Jack didn’t take this very well. But that wasn’t the end of it, by far.

As Thompson was having a similar bill gutted in Louisiana, the president of the Utah Senate, Michael Waddoups (R), asked the Utah Attorney General to look into prosecuting Thompson for spamming Government email with images depicting strippers giving Grand Theft Auto IV protagonist (and all around morally ambiguous guy) Niko Bellic a lap dance. Thompson, butthurt and completely batshit insane, responded by writing the FBI’s Salt Lake City offices to seek prosecution of Waddoups.

For those of you who are new to this game, contacting federal authorities in a pitiful attempt to silence his critics is a classic Thompson move. It should be fucking trademarked.

The FBI apparently ignored Thompson, as per FBI protocol 13, paragraph 37:

Already feeling the icy cold shoulder of the FBI being turned to him, Thompson’s man-ego was bruised even more when a second Utah Legislator, a Curtis Oda, took objection to the narcassist’s countless emails.

That leads us to today, where Jack Thompson has threatened to prosecute the entire Utah Legislative Body:

If I get one more threat of criminal prosecution for sending you all proof, as I have, that pornographic video games are being sold to children in Utah because of the willful refusal of your Attorney General to enforce your state’s pornography laws, then I will add ALL of you to the sworn criminal complaint now in the hands of the FBI in Salt Lake City. You will be identified as co-conspirators to violate 18 USC 241 and 242…

Maybe the real problem here is that Utah, as a recent study proves, leads the nation in consumption of on-line porn. Maybe some among you are into this stuff, and you feel threatened…

I’m not going to put up with it. I’ve taken down some of the largest pornographers in the world. Taking down your legislature will be a piece of cake by comparison.

…the cake is a lie, but that’s besides the point. You’ve totally lost your mind. You can’t get your laws passed through normal means. You can’t get your laws passed through morally and legally questionable means… so you’re just gonna basically sue the whole damn state of Utah? You’ve completed your transformation from laughably insane attorney into a Weird Al song. Congrats.

There was a time when Jack Thompson was considered to be a threat to the gaming industry, when publishers feared facing the wrath of the frothy-mouthed bloodhound. Now, though, he is but a laughing stock. And you know what that shows?

That karma is very real.
