Yesterday we passed along a video showing off what could have been with Star Wars Battlefront III. Without getting into details, it was absolutely gorgeous and I want to play it right now. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to.

Speaking with SPOnG, a former employee of Free Radical who likes to be called Thomas Dudernaughty confirmed that the video was, indeed, very real. Unfortunately, he also confirmed that the game has been passed on to a new developer. Oh, it gets worse.

The tech that allowed players to take off on a planet’s surface and fly into outer space? Yeah, that stayed with Free Radical.

Dammit!

But if that isn’t enough for you Star Wars fanatics out there, here’s a little more. The ex-employee also confirmed that there would’ve been a subplot involving Obi-Wan Kenobi falling to the dark side. Temporarily, obviously, but still. Epic.
