EA Announces Medal of Honor Reboot

Medal of Honor (2010) - Banner

After months upon months of speculation, Electronic Arts today finally got around to announcing a brand-spankin’-new* Medal of Honor game, entitled simply Medal of Honor. As was rumored, the new MOH will take place in the modern day, specifically modern day Afghanistan, and revolve around the “real events” of T1Ops (or “Tier 1 Operations” for you civies). T1Ops, for those of you who have never spent a day in the military, are basically a group of elite soldiers who are one step below literally eating lighting and shitting thunder.

They don’t fuck around.

Serving as a reboot of the franchise (God Speed, Jimmy Patterson) the single-player campaign is being spearheaded by EA LA, the multiplayer is being looked over by Battlefield 1943 and Battlefield: Bad Company developers EA DICE.

While we will have to wait until sometime in 2010 to judge the game for ourselves, the cover art doesn’t inspire much confidence. I say this because it looks, as you can see below, almost exactly like Modern Warfare 2’s box art:

MoH - MW2

There is no way in hell that this is an accident. With that said, box art frequently changes so we’ll have to wait and see…

I wouldn’t say it’s a copy… Though it may be. A single character standing is pretty common. Though, they usually don’t show the whole body like those… But DICE did something similar for one of their pictures. May not be the box art, but for BC2, there’s some artwork of a soldier walking towards the viewer, somewhat similar.

yeah thats what i was thinking the BFBC2 box art looks way more similar to MW2 box art. Oh well who cares I will be picking up all of them. I’m sure the new MOH adn BFBC will be amazing

umm they look nothing alike you tool, its a war game, how many different covers can you come up with for a war game, lets get real. Please get a life.

Personally I don’t care if the Box art uses stick figures, if the game has great multiplayer it’s worth looking into.

Seeing as it’s being done by DICE, I’m sure it will be great, I just hope they take it 1 notch above MWII’s perks/etc when it comes to unlockables, if they can do this, you can be assured that people will move to MOH.

FUCK SAKE! Leave all other FPS that aren’t made by IW alone! I LOVE IW I was following them since they first started out because I was curious if a team of 30 people who worked on MoH could make a game let alone an awesome one! Then when the first gameplay was shown I was shocked that they could do so well! And the covers don’t look alike! About 75% (I bet you it is way more than this but I’m just predicting!) of video game covers feature a main character on! Just because they used to be rivals and if they pull this off they will continue to be rivals again. I have a feeling that if they make a good story length (They have a team for story and multiplayer which DICE will tackle amazingly!) then this will be better in quite a few ways!

SIMILAR? HA! MW2 has some generic looking soldier guy who’s so self concious that he’s sh!t scared of showing his ugly mug to anyone, dressed up in, oh whats that? ARMY unoform? How original… reminds me of the PREVIOUS 2 games, but with a diff paint job.

Where MOH has some bad ass looking dude with a beard, backwards cap and a pair o shades, back turned to audience in an “i dont give a damn” gesture, and looks like he belongs in a biker gang and ready to kick some ass.. Now thats what you all kickass, although, it is sorta lacking in the design and colour department.

The Medal of Honour art reminded me of something other then COD or BC2 boxart.

It actually reminded me of this:

That is the Movie poster for Rambo 4 and they are very alike compared to the Medel of Honour poster.

  11. Agent75 says:

eh? wtf…looks nowt like it. another mind boggling article…

  12. Potedude says:

The first Medal of Honour was one of my fav games for ages. I played that sucker clean, esp the bridge over river Nijmegen. Hopefully these new games can bring back some of that fascination I had for FPS back then. Not so keen on some of them now…

  13. EXC355UM says:

I agree with LordMcKill. First thing I thought of was Rambo. =P
