Contrary to popular belief, gamers are more than a group of pissy pre-pubescents who refer to each other by racial and sexual slurs over Xbox LIVE. Gamers also have a heart, and this is shown in the fact that the Child’s Play charity, which provides gifts for sick children in over seventy hospitals around the world, has surpassed $1 Million in donations.
The current donation total (as of December 4th, 2009) stands at a staggering $1,010,680.28*. With three weeks to go before Christmas and the Child’s Play Charity Dinner and Auction still to come on December 8th, it appears that the charity may be able to top it’s 2008 total of $1.4 Million in donations.
Since 2003, Child’s Play has raised over $5 Million for toys, games and cash donations for hospitalized children in hospitals across the United States, Canada, Australia, Great Britain, New Zealand and Egypt. If you are interested in donating to the Child’s Play charity, you can find details on the Child’s Play website. If you live in the greater Seattle area and want to attend the Child’s Play Charity Dinner and Auction… too damn bad. It’s sold out.
*Who on Earth makes a donation with 28 cents in the amount?
