Age of Conan is Losing Servers. A lot of them.

Age of Conan has not had an easy go of things. It was hyped up as being the potential WoW killer and it got off to a fast start, but it didn’t take long for the Hyborian Kingdoms to become a ghost town as players flocked back to Azeroth.

Funcom, the game’s developer, has announced that they will be reducing the number of servers from 49 to 18. Of those 31 servers getting the ax, 25 of them are US servers.

While things don’t look good for Age of Conan, the few of you who still play it don’t have to worry about it being shut down anytime soon. Until they launch their next MMO, The Secret World, Age of Conan is their only source of income.

My advice to Funcom is to not give up on Age of Conan. I promise you that once Brett Ratner’s Conan film is released sometime in 2010, the game will see an influx of new players.
