In news that really shouldn’t shock any of you, a survey commissioned by Google, Yahoo and Skype shows that 9 out of 10 people expect their ISPs to offer complete, unrestricted internet access.
Shocking, I know.
The survey comes just as the European Parliament and European Union states begin talks regarding telecom rules reform in an attempt to drive competition.
According to the survey, whcih was conducted by Synovate (a European market research firm), ten percent of all UK internet users would gladly switch ISPs if their current service provider was found to be blocking or limiting their service. In Germany, that number jumped to 15%.
In the United States, there has been a real issue over allegations of ISPs simply curbing internet speeds to certain P2P sites. Thankfully, as of now, sites haven’t been outright banned (save for the workplace).
…as of right now…
