The reviews for Haze are starting to come in, and the general consensus IS… that is sucks. Well, not everyone is saying that it sucks. GameSpot, Game Informer, GameTap, GamersHell and VideoGamer think it’s perfectly average in every way. The highest score is a 7 out of 10 (70%) from GameDaily, and the lowest is a 2 out of 5 (40%) from the good people over at X-Play. With review scores fluctuating from “meh” to “blarg”, you would think Ubisoft would just shut Haze out of their minds and focus on something else, right?
Not quite.
Taking a page from Factor 5, Ubisoft has essentially said the reviews are wrong. Unlike Factor 5, however, Ubisoft did not accuse reviews of “doing it wrong”. Ubisoft’s community manager, “Wuzzy”, explains that players should try Haze for themselves, and not listen to reviews… while Ubisoft also touts that Famitsu scored Haze a 37 out of 40… hm.
One thing I can already tell about the reviews is that most of the time they are the opinion of only one person and may not reflect the way you will see the game: you have to make your own judgment.
Does this guy realize that he just threw all reviewers under the bus to try and save face on a game that, to be kind, isn’t worth the disc it’s printed on? The whole reason why reviews exist is to give the consumer an informed analysis and opinion of a product.
Anyways… expect our full review of Haze over the weekend, but I can tell you right now… we’re not breaking any trends with it.
