They’re Back: Lanning Confirms New Oddworld Project

Nobody knows what it will be called. Hell, nobody is even certain that it will wind up being a video game — but Oddworld Inhabitants president Lorne Lanning confirmed to GamesIndustry.biz what Maxis co-founder Jeff Braun let slip at a university lecture last week: They’re working on something.

I can confirm that we’re working with Jeff on Oddworld stuff, but that’s all I can say at this time.

The last game from OI was 2005’s Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath, although many consider 1998’s Abe’s Exoddus to be the last true game in the franchise. However, considering OIs past desire to work on CGI films, the new project may not even wind up being a video game. Either way, it’ll be interesting to see what Oddworld Inhabitants has up its sleeve, and maybe… just maybe… they’ll update their damn Coming Soon screen on their homepage.
