EA has announced, much to the delight of shut-ins and those with delusional visions of Godhood, that The Sims 3 will be released on the PC in 2009.

Being developed at EA Redwood Shores using a brand new engine said to be in development for the past three years, The Sims 3 promises to “unleash the player’s imagination with realistic looking Sims who have disinct personalities and a seamless living neighborhood for them to discover.”

I never had the chance to play The Sims 2, but I still play The Sims fairly regularly. I may have to crack and give #3 a go. Alas, however — I have over a year to decide.
