The List Keeps Growing: id Software Leaves ESA

id Software has confirmed with GamePolitics that they have, in fact, left the Entertainment Software Association. This move puts the Doom and Quake developer in good company. Who knows, maybe id, LucasArts, Activision and Vivendi will all have a nice, big tea party together.

The ESA has yet to comment on id Software’s departure, though a press release would not be out of the question.

So what’s the deal with companies leaving the ESA? Over the span of about a month they have lost four substantial members, and rumors continue to persist that even more developers are looking to get out. In fact, the only company that has come out in support of the ESA in these trying times is Electronic Arts, although to be honest… that shouldn’t really shock anyone.
