Though announced sometime in March, I never did get to posting this HUGE NEWS. Tetris will be heading to WiiWare this summer… except the game has been delayed for whatever reason as well as being renamed to “Tetris Party.” So why am I posting this now? Well, because though we are done with day to day excessive news blips, I did promise in The Bender to bring about Tetris news, so I must deliver. The news is:
TetrisParty.com is open! The site offers very little as of right now, so here is a Mini-FAQ of what we know and don’t know.
Expected:
18 Modes of play!
Balance Board support for “Balance Marathon Mode”
The first time I have ever seen this, a Co-Op Multiplayer Mode
Duel Mode – No making lines, you are creating territory.
15 Level Marathon Mode
ENDLESS Marathon Mode (YES! This has surprisingly been missing from the last two Tetris iterations)
Versus Battle Mode (4-player versus same screen)
Versus Field Climber Mode (Like Duel Mode, another new mode to get a climber to the top of the screen, wha?!)
Versus Shadow Mode (fill out puzzles using Tetris pieces)
Wi-Fi Battle Mode (6-player, the Tetris Splash killer !?)

Not Expected:
Wii Balance Board will be easier to use than the Xbox 360 D-Pad (though no one is really sure)
Wii Speak usage (the delayed time should be used to somehow cram this into the game, as one of the best features of Tetris Splash is the in game chatter between 6 people)
Game will be developed by Hudson Soft, however the website TetrisParty.com does sport the same Tetris Online logo that XBLA’s “Tetris Splash” has. I can’t wait for any more information, and I know you can’t either (right James?).
