Hi, everybody. I know, I know. A couple of weeks ago I said I was going to start doing this weekly feature on a weekly basis, but it has been a busy couple of weeks here at BG. We’re working on getting a podcast launched, trying to get more advertising deals done, and we’re looking into going to some big time gaming events. Between that and our day jobs, it’s been pretty busy.
Anyways, here is the weekly look into the strange and surreal we all know as “t3h w31rd”.
Cancel MAD TV? Please?
There was a time when MAD TV was funny… I think… well… no, no. I’m sure they screwed up and actually made me laugh once or twice in the show’s run. Statistically, they would have had to, right? Anyways, MAD TV wanted to cash in on the Grand Theft Auto IV craze, so they did this:
I swear, watching MAD TV is painful to watch. Kind of like when you’re watching a friend or loved one tell a joke and they think it’s hilarious but nobody else does and you kind of squirm in your seat as you try to build up the courage to tell them that they’re not funny. At least when SNL stopped being funny you held out faith that it would be funny again because it was once before. MAD TV? Not so much.
Quit Busting My Balls, Mom!
We’ve all been in situations where those around us thought we played too many video games. Some got over their gaming habits and became successful members of society, some still live with their mothers, playing Bible Adventures in their basement because they’ve beaten everything else they own, and some of us turned playing video games into a career! Suck on that, motherfuckers!
…sorry. Anyways, Chamborg Hecht falls into the second category — social inepts who play video games at the expense of going to work or meeting chicks. His mother, Brenda Hecht, did not approve of the 18-year-old’s behavior. Fed up with her slacker son, Brenda took away his Xbox and PSP in an attempt to drive him to get a job. Well, that didn’t work. Once he realized that he wasn’t getting his games back, he first left a dead cockroach in her bed.
Biological warfare. Good choice. Unfortunately that didn’t work, so Chamborg had to turn to plan B.) Standing in front of her in the buff. Plan B also failed, and in the resulting altercation poor ol Chamborg wound up in the hospital with what local reports call “a large laceration on his head”.
His mother attacked him with a meat cleaver… that was in the bathroom… at least it wasn’t his naughty bits, I suppose. Slacker.
“Pac-Man” The Movie: Coming Soon!
Odds are you’ve heard about the $200 million deal that gave Crystal Sky Pictures the motion picture rights to *drum roll* Pac-Man. Never mind that Pac-Man is quite possibly the last IP you would expect to be turned into a movie, Crystal Sky Pictures’ parent company Crystal Sky Worldwide Sales, is responsible for the Baby Geniuses franchise, and a movie called “Karate Dog”.
These are also the people who own the rights to Castlevania and Tekken so… yeah. We’re in for the long haul, people.
Now, you’re probably wondering why I put this in t3h w31rd, and not a standard story: Well, to be honest, I maybe should have put this in its own story during the week… but then again, this gives me the chance to post this video:
See? Everything has a reason… greatest movie ever, by the way.
Painkiller: Don’t Call it a Comeback!
When Painkiller came out back in 2004, it was what would be best described as the “flavor of the week”. The gaming media paid it attention for about a month, and then quickly forgot about it. Well, it looks like Painkiller may be making a comeback — thanks to Yahtzee Crenshaw.
Yes, that Yahtzee Crenshaw. After the release of his latest video, which was a retrospective review of Painkiller, this image popped up on the Steam homepage:

Yep. Shurikens and lightning. Frankly, that’s as awesome as it comes, people, and if more companies would advertise their games based on the awesome shit rather than their “stories” or graphics.
Painkiller is on Steam, right now, for $9.99. Buy it, or else.
Non-Gaming w31rd: Double-Dosage
Two pieces of non-gaming related w31rdness for you this week.
1.) Weezer Officially Wins the Internet
Odds are you’ve seen this. If you haven’t yet, I urge you to watch it right now:
Whether or not you love Weezer, to say that this video isn’t absolutely chock full o’ win (yes, even Chris Crocker wins in this video) is to be blasphemous. The song isn’t too bad, either.
2.) Your Date Won’t Know It’s Not Bacon

Yes, it’s a tuxedo. Yes, it looks (and smells, according to the advertisement) like bacon. Yes, they’re actually asking $100 for this travesty.
SONY BMG, SCEE – Please give this man a Job
Finally, I want to tell you guys about a growing YouTube phenom who calls himself “netcasty”. “netcasty” aka Han Beom Kuh is a simple man who lives in Germany, and loves SingStar. In fact, he loves SingStar so much that he has posted (as of the time this was posted) 172 videos of himself singing along with just about every track to ever be featured in a SingStar title.
It all started on November 20th, 2007 with the Divinyls classic “I Touch Myself” from SingStar 90’s, and he has posted a video of himself singing a different track from SingStar ever-single-day since. From Radiohead to Diana Ross and everything in between — and it is awesome.
(My favorite song. Ever.)
And yes…
You can even RickRoll somebody with him. Is he the best singer out there? Not by a long shot. Hell, he probably wouldn’t even get out of the preliminaries on American Idol. But for having the balls to post 100+ videos of himself on the internet, and for obviously finding joy in the classic art of Karaoke, “netcasty” aka Han Beom Kuh receives our highest honor:

He has legs, too. See y’all next week!
