Okay, dudes and dolls. This week your Lord and Master Adam Sessler speaks for a few minutes about the ever-elusive “fanboy”.

And by “elusive”, I of course mean “everywhere”. Adam sounds off on the fanboys who went to Metacritic and proceeded to rape the user review scores of either Resistance 2 or Gears of War 2. The rant then turns towards fanboys in general with Adam ultimately asking the age old question:

“Why?”

It’s because the console I am a fanboy of is mine. It’s the choice I’ve made, and on some subconscious level when somebody comes in and takes a giant e-dump on my console of choice, I feel as though they have questioned my judgment and therefore I feel as though I must defend my choice.

And I would be willing to bet that deep down, I’ve just described the mental wiring of 95% of fanboys out there.

Now, the ones who went on Metacritic to knock down the user scores of Gears of War 2 and/or Resistance 2 aren’t representative of the typical fanboy. That was just plain childish and sad.

…and a little funny, too. But mostly sad.

In the end, most fanboys are fanboys simply because they own one console. Sure, you have the rare fanboy who owns both the PS3 and 360, but for most it’s either one or the other that is sitting next to their dusty, disregarded Wii.

…I’m not sure if this made any sense whatsoever. Oh well, that’s what I get for writing a rebuttal at 1am.
