It was about a month ago when EGM and ourselves broke similar but different rumors that Max Payne 3 was in development. EGM’s resident bullshit artist rumor wrangler, Quartermann, passed along the tidbit that the game may be in development internally at Rockstar Toronto. Our own mole told me that Rockstar Vancouver is the more likely choice.

Well, looks like our guy was off. CVG is reporting that Xbox World 360 is now reporting that it is Rockstar Toronto, developer of The Warriors, that is currently hard at work on Max Payne 3.

While Rockstar aren’t patently going to be able to bang the game out in time to coincide with Marky Mark Wahlberg’s forthcoming cinematic portrayal of New York’s most tragic cop, we’re guessing they’re at least going to ride in on the back of it.

Nerdgasm: Achieved. Let us hope that they bring back the original writer, Sam Lake, and the original Max Payne, James McCaffrey. If Rockstar does that, I don’t care what they do with it.
