Lewis Bennett was as close to a hero as you could find in the small township of Plymouth, Pennsylvania. He had played a vital role in thwarting what local police described as “a possible Columbine-style” attack at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School, where he is a Freshman. In fact, young Lewis was even praised by the President of the United States for his actions.
So naturally, after praise from the President and local authorities for his heroic actions, Bennett proceeds to break into the home of one of the would-be attackers, and steal some air guns, an iPod and an Xbox 360. I’m not sure it’s wise to break into the home of someone who had a stockpile of weaponry in his bedroom, including homemade hand grenades, but whatever.
Bennett was caught when he tried to peddle the stolen wares to fellow students at his high school. His attorney says that the “intense media attention” on the teen, partially due to his meeting with President Bush (who hailed him a hero) may have influenced his behavior… so wait.. did this attorney just backhandedly blame the President of the United States for this Xbox theft?
