Portal, Bioshock Win Big at GDC Awards

Portal, the game that I’ve dubbed the Tetris of the 21st Century, cleaned house at the GDC awards, winning three awards including Game of the Year, beating out BioShock, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, Rock Band and Super Mario Galaxy.

Portal also picked up awards for Best Game Design and their award for Innovation, beating out Rock Band, flOw, Mass Effect and Peggle. Yes, Peggle.

Bioshock was the other big winner at GDC. Bioshock took home the awards for Best Writing, Best Visual Art and Best Audio.

The game that was completely snubbed was Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Nominated for four awards including Game of the Year, Best Game Design, Best Audio and Best Technology, Call of Duty 4 didn’t take home a single award. For the record, Call of Duty 4 lost out in the Best Technology category to Crysis.
