PlayStation 3 Loves Electricity. Loves it.

We’re all aware that the PlayStation 3 is an energy hog, but this is ridiculous: According to Australian consumer agency Choice the PS3 devours five times as much energy as a refrigerator. Even more jawdropping is that if you are one of those people who leave their PS3 on for Folding@Home, you’re looking at something around $250 a year in extra expenses.

The Xbox 360 is almost as power hungry, sucking some 23.57kWh per week when idling, compared to the PS3’s 31.74kWh.

But what about the Wii, you ask? Well, that little bugger doesn’t even clock in at 3kWh.

While this may cause some people to sit back and consider whether they would rather help cure cancer or buy a Wii, others, such as this man, won’t feel the energy crunch for a long time.
