60GB Hard Drive, No Blu-Ray For New Xbox 360 SKU; 20GB Drops to $299

If there is one thing I cannot stand, it’s when a company has the audacity to make news on a Sunday. However, that’s exactly what Microsoft has done on the day before their E3 press conference. But what news could possibly be made? Well, for starters Microsoft has confirmed that the 20GB “Pro” version of the Xbox 360 has been dropped to a reasonable $299.

Interesting move that will surely move consoles, but why would they do such a thing? Hoping the lower price moves more systems, perhaps? Well, maybe. But they droped the price mostly because it wouldn’t have been very economical for them to offer their 20GB model for $349 when they’re going to be selling their shiny new 60GB SKU for the same price.

That’s right, Microsoft has formally announced their new Xbox 360 SKU, complete with a 60GB hard drive (totally fake concept art seen left) and, I can’t stress this enough, NO BLU-RAY! I just wanted to clear that up before anybody started freaking out.

Anyways, the new SKU will go on store shelves in early August, so save your pennies.

With the arcade only $20 cheaper than the 20 gig, I am going out on a limb and saying they are getting rid of the 20 gig model all together….
.. instead of getting rid of the damn Arcade model all together!!

    Bah!

No Blu-ray .. meh.. whatever…. but no hard drive in every system is more so retarded! (they made their bed and now they lay in it or whatever.. but still)
