Midway: Secret Game ‘Looks Better than Gears 2′

Making that image, I died inside.

Remember being in middle school and having that one friend who always insisted, no matter how awesome your new shoes were, that he had a pair of shoes that were even more awesome? Remember how when you said you wanted to see those shoes, that same friend would say no because they were at home or something?

Yeah, that’s kind of what Midway is doing.

Talking with VideoGamer.com, Midway creative director Simon Woodroffe praised how Midway sharing technology amongst its many development teams helps them create better games because they are all familiar with the tools… and then he said one of those games looks better than Gears of War II:

I just saw a demo of a new Midway game that’s in development. I can’t tell you too much about it, but they’ve been on it for three months and it looks as good if not better than Gears 2. This is only possible because of the sharing of technology…

It’s already looking as good as Gears 2, but the game mechanics are kind of different. It’s going to be really big and really important. It’s not often, especially when you’re a cynical type, that you see a prototype or creative slice and just get blown away by it. But in this case, the hype is justified.

It better be justified. After all, saying a game that has only been in development for a matter of months already looks better than a game like Gears of War 2 is one hell of a statement.

Especially when you won’t give us a name.
