Microsoft Says a $650 ‘I’m Sorry’

360signed01.jpgAnyone remember Nathaniel, the poor bastard who had dozens of signatures and artwork scrubbed off of his Xbox 360 when he had to send it off for repairs? It was truly a sad story to hear, and I can’t imagine how he must’ve felt when he got his freshly scrubbed console back. Now, while we reported the initial story, we failed to mention that Halo developer Bungie gave Nathaniel a ton of Halo 3 swag, which immediately made me envious.

However, Microsoft had been pretty quiet on the entire situation. Other than a brief email vowing that they would make things right, Microsoft hadn’t so much as made a peep regarding Nathaniel’s Xbox 360.

Until today, that is.

Nathaniel received a big ol’ cardboard box from Microsoft today. What was in this box, however? Was it a letter? Nope. An explanation as to why Nathaniel’s letter to not mess with his artwork was ignored? Hell no! A bunch of Xbox 360 swag that is sure to make any 360 fanboy go into an envy-fueled blood lust? You betcha! Inside the box Nathaniel found the following:

  • One Xbox 360 console signed by the guys at Rooster Teeth, artwork by Luke McKay, members of Bungie and the Xbox 360 team360signed02.jpg
  • One white Xbox 360 faceplate signed by Bill Gates, amongst others
  • A Signed picture of Bill Gates
  • Devil May Cry 4
  • Gears of War
  • Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom
  • Lost Odyssey
  • Rainbow Six Vegas 2
  • Two ‘What’s Your Gamerscore?’ bumper stickers
  • Xbox 360 CD Wallet
  • Now Nathaniel was understandably joyful at receiving such a package. So joyful, in fact, that he issued a rather bland and monotonous statement which read, in part:

To those who have worked to put this package together for me, you have my gratitude. Thank you all for putting forth the time and effort to do this for me; this is indeed far “more awesome” than what I had before.

Nathaniel, I think I speak for just about everyone when I say “Congratulations, you lucky git.”
