Media Mistakes

Here at Binge Gamer, we’re committed to excellence in video game news reporting. Recently, I’ve noticed a number of mistakes on other gaming websites. So, I’d like to offer up some corrections for you all…

Mike Fahey at Kotaku reported today that the EA Online Store is now giving away Dead Space stuff when you preorder Mass Effect for your PC. He writes,

While folks preorder the game through traditional PC outlets get a nice $10 off retail price, preordering at the EA Store snags you a copy of the first issue of the Dead Space comic book and a Dead Space poster. Great! If you preorder now, we’ll include you in our special marketing program for a completely unrelated game.

This is a mistake. EA’s marketing program is not actually “special.”

Just ask this dude. He’ll tell you a lil something-something about brainwashing…

Earlier this week, Jim Sterling from Destructoid reported on a story about a man in Croydon who got stabbed waiting in line for GTA IV. Sterling writes,

Have you ever been to Croydon? I have. Many times. It’s very close by, in fact. I’ve downed a few bottles at the karaoke bar down there (at least before it changed its name to Pop World and turned sh*t) as well as the really gaudy bar that has poles in it, but never any pole dancers. Anyway, the point is that if you’re in Croydon at 11pm, you’re kind of asking to be stabbed.

This is a mistake. If your in Croydon at 11pm, you’re actually asking to be murdered, not just stabbed.

Liberty City? Not so bad. Don’t blame us for what happens in Croydon, though…

Lynxara over at OMG Nintendo reported yesterday that Mario Kart may not have made the splash Nintendo was hoping it would make and that reviewers are split on whether they like it or not. She reports that she doesn’t have time to play it at the moment and writes,

Will Nintendo actually succeed in making a Mario Kart game I like any better than the original? Beats me. In the meantime, Mario Kart Wii is definitely going to be popular, but less popular than Brawl, and very likely to get steamrolled by Grand Theft Auto 4.

This is a mistake. Mario Kart was never “very likely to get steamrolled by GTA IV.” Mario Kart was GTA’s bitch in terms of popularity.

Maybe Peach should learn how to make some hot coffee.

That’s it for now. See a mistake in the media? Let us know!
