Maxis Co-Founder: I’m Working on Oddworld

Maxis co-founder Jeff Braun, speaking at Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario, Canada, has confirmed his incolvement in a new Oddworld game… let me say that again… Jeff Braun, the co-founder of Maxis… is working… on a new Oddworld game!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Now hold on a second. A former Maxis employee working on an Oddworld title? What about the series creators at Oddworld Inhabitants? Don’t worry, they’re back, too.

They’re such a talented group of people and I really trust their ability to create compelling content.

Braun went on to spill a few details about the next Oddworld: Specifically that it will utilize a new 3D animation technology that will allow is, the gamer, to experience “cinematic quality on a 1 to 1 scale” on-par with CGI movies. Braun also hinted that the next Oddworld may be released in episodic content.

If you haven’t played any of the Oddworld titles, you suck. Go to eBay. Buy Abe’s Odyssey. Pop it in your PS3 or PS2 (or PSOne if you’re old school) and learn yourself something. No word yet if this new Oddworld project will pull series co-creator Lorne Lanning out of retirement.
