Mario Kart Wii Controls Video (pt. 1 & 2)

The fact that I’m posting something from MTV makes a little part of me die inside. However, the video itself is MTV Multiplayer’s Stephen Tolito taking the soon-to-be-released Mario Kart Wii for a quick spin using the absolutely ridiculous-looking Wii Wheel.

The controls for Mario Kart Wii work like this: Button 1 is for your brake, button 2 is to accelerate, and the B button is for power sliding and jumps. You will utilize the D-Pad to use your items, with up launching said item while down will drop it on the track behind you. Left and right hold the items near you. The A button? For giggles, it seems.

After watching Tolito suck at Mario Kart for a while (which I blame on the feel of the wheel itself), I think it is a safe bet that the Wii controls are going to take a little while to get the feel of, but I imagine that once you’ve sat down with it for a day or so you’ll pick right up on it.
