Logitech’s New Guitar Controller: It will Rape your Wallet

I’m all for cool peripherals, but sometimes things get out of hand. I mean, look at that stupid Wii gun thingy we’re supposed to use for Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. Give me a break.

Logitech just announced a new guitar controller, and although it does look perty, I have to just shake my head at the price.

“There’s no better feeling than being the guy with the best instrument when you walk into your friend’s house to jam on Guitar Hero,” said Ruben Mookerjee, Logitech’s director of product marketing for gaming. “We designed this guitar for that experience. From the humbucker to the metal frets, the whammy bar to the metal tuners, the Logitech Wireless Guitar Controller gives you the credibility you rightfully deserve.”

Ok, true, true, true…but I’ll be damned if I’m going to spend $250 on a guitar controller. Yeah, you heard that right. Try not to shit your pants. TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS.

What do you get for you week’s paycheck? Well, the controller is wireless, and that’s definitely a plus. The guitar isn’t a piece of plastic either – the neck is make of wood and the frets and tuning peg handles are actually metal. Still, for $250, I’m sorry…I want a fucking guitar, not a piece of gaming equipment that, frankly, will probably collect a lot of dust after just a few years of playtime.

If you have the cash to spare, you can pick up this controller for your PlayStation (2 or 3) starting in December. Personally, I think it would be a better investment to donate the money to the Allison-wants-a-PS3 cause.

But that’s just me…
