Limbo of the Lost “Borrows” Environments from Oblivion

Limbo of the Lost, at least according to Wikipedia, “is a traditional point-and-click adventure game that follows the adventures of Captain Benjamin Spooner Briggs as he explores the depths of Limbo in the Keep of Lost Souls”… and that, ladies and gentlemen, is all I know about this game.

Oh, other than that the developers “borrowed” some aspects of a much more publicized and some which most would also say was a superior game, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. By “borrowed”, I mean “stole like dirty, rotten thieves”!

GamePlasma originally noticed the similarities between the two games, noting that there are several environments where the game looks exactly the same. Only worse in Limbo of the Lost. It’s true, as well. In the images posted on their website, you can see for yourself that the games look exactly alike — except LotL looks like utter crap.

Seriously, how do you lift environments straight from another game, without any changes to said environment, and still find a way to screw it up? This kind of attention to detail may be why LotL wasn’t picked up by a major publisher, or why the trailer looks abysmal, or why the game’s website is hosted on GeoCities — and broken.

So far neither Bethesda Softworks or the “company” that designed Limbo have responded to emails about this matter, but if they do, we’ll let you know.
