Odds are if you have a PlayStation 3, you downloaded PlayStation Home. Odds also are that unless you are a complete bowling junkie such as myself, you probably find Home to be a damn boring waste of increasingly valuable hard drive space. However, we now have at least one reason to actually spend more than two attempts to actually sign into Home.
Tonight G4’s Attack of the Show needs you and your PlayStation 3. For what, you ask? Simple: To dance! At 7pm EST (4pm PST), you log onto Home and walk your avatar’s happy ass over to the Mall. Once the mall actually gets around to loading, make your way to the first floor center court and start doing the Robot dance.
Let me reiterate: The robot.
So why would you want to take part in this? Well, if you are an attention whore you will have the chance to have your Home avatar immortalized forever. If you’re an asshole like me, you’re hoping that the combined power of thousands (…well, hundreds. This is G4*) of others doing the robot will bring those rickety ass servers to their e-knees.
So to reiterate: PlayStation Home. Mall. First floor, center court. Robot. What time? 7pm EST (4pm PST).
NOTE: Because there are several servers for Home, the odds of actually crashing Home are slim to none — but it’s still worth a shot. (<-- best taken with grain of salt)

You DO know that Home servers will be able to handle a TON of stress, right? That and when Sony does see that you’re using G4’s “test” in order to perform malicious actions like you’re looking like you are (you’re not trying to help Sony, it’s because you don’t like the service so you don’t want anyone else enjoying it), they’ll probably sue your ass.

See, right away I can tell that you haven’t actually read this site, otherwise you would more than likely know that I’ve been having to deal with blithering idiots calling me a PS3 fanboy since March. All because I dared to make the suggestion that Capcom should’ve brought Dead Rising to the PS3 instead of the Wii.
I own a PS3. I like my PS3. I would take my PS3 over a 360 and certainly over the gimmick box that is Wii. But no matter how much I may love my PS3, it won’t change the fact that, Beta or not, Home is a vast wasteland devoid of anything to keep people’s attention.
Well, you should want to make things better instead of wanting to crash it so Sony doesn’t HAVE it, then. Maybe do an article saying how Sony should improve Home, instead of wanting Home to be destroyed.
Oh, and I’ve been called the same thing, but it is mainly from a group of idiots at the Bitbag that seem to never like when anyone calls them out on their shit, even when they seem so contempt to call everyone ELSE out (all while calling out PS3 fanboys and never saying a word about 360 fanboys).
My opinion on your intentions still stands. Do you WANT Sony to improve Home to your standards or do you want to see the service completely eliminated, and if it’s the latter, WHY?
My intentions? I have no intentions. I am in no position to have intentions. I am not organizing the event nor do I have any say in what happens. As I noted in the piece (when it dawned on me, ironically as I was bowling) the odds of the servers actually going down due to the centralized flood of traffic is slim to none.
Now on a personal level, do I want to see Home crash? Yes and no. On one hand, I actually think Home has great potential and, one day, could become the grand social networking tool that Sony hopes it to be. On the other hand, seeing your reaction if by some freak accident of fate that the servers do crash would tickle me to no end.
But let us remember that in the end the true winner here is G4. When I watch Attack of the Show tonight and see that only eight people are dancing in the square because everyone else can’t get a connection, I’ll know that this humble website is responsible for at least two of them.
Actually, I think Home could be better, but we have to remember that it’s not meant to be a game, but a social networking tool to meet new gamers for your PS3 games list. Personally, I’m really wishing they would add the 3D trophy room already since that was one of the main things that got me excited about the Home service (wasn’t the only thing, but a main thing about it). It’s not the best service in the world, but it doing its job so far. And we have to remember that it’s still in beta stages, and there WILL be problems as with any beta software.

Okay, then maybe update the story to say that you’re not wanting to do anything malicious as a result, and you’re wanting to have fun, because this article SURE as hell doesn’t imply that.
Article (singular). I know the one you’re talking about, from last April. We’ve written a number of pro-Xbox stories beyond that. We’ve also written pro-PlayStation stories. In fact, a few days ago, the same writer who penned the article to which you’ve referred wrote a defense of Sony after CNN trashed it.
We all have our favorite systems, but if you’d read our site, you’d see that we point out the good and bad aspects of ALL systems. One article doesn’t make us one of the most biased sites on the web.
True, but still, it’s a ratio of pro vs. anti on any site (look at the BS articles that are on Kotaku and GameDaily). Thing is, I’ve been getting sick and fucking tired of these gaming media whores trying to influence a industry that I love and that I’m that passionate about, and this article, that doesn’t look like you’re trying to HELP Sony make Home any better, doesn’t fucking help that, and this gang-up on me tells me that you’re no better than the Bitbag at taking criticisms on your site. Think your all over reacting. Perhaps crashing the server was meant as a joke since they are unstable . Home is full of massive crowds of people dancing anyway, i highly doubt you could crash the servers that way.

G4’s little stunt will not succeed because the majority of their viewers do not own a ps3. As proof just look at any of the episodes (AOTS or XPlay), when they are speaking to their webcam audience. They are all 360 fanatics (I hate the overused word fanboy) and most despise the ps3.

I am still surprised to find (even after constantly reading over-reactions to a websites posts about this system and that system) people getting SO fired up about the most isolated things in life. Things that don’t affect a persons state of living. Making a HUGE deal out of someone saying they hope the Home servers crash is just silly you guys. I mean think about it. You’re letting a complete strangers opinion about something get you so riled up that you feel actual anger toward them. Why? Who really cares what they think? Why should it be so important to you what they think? Why let your emotions be influenced by what THEY THINK?? I read these posts and the rebuttal posts and the rebuttal to the rebuttal posts and it just keeps going on and on. I just think to myself how happy I am that I don’t give a crap what other people think. Now if those people think a certain way that infringes on another persons actual freedoms to do something, then that is when you should stand up and let your voice be heard. If James Walker decided to try and rally thousands of people together to try and crash the Home server (which he hasn’t done in the slightest…) then maybe you would have cause for your outbursts as it could affect you being able to get on Home. Being even slightly intelligent individuals however, you can likely ascertain that it’s not even a possibility that it would go down in that way. I personally have opinions about the 360 and the PS3 and their services but I keep those to myself unless I’m in a healthy discussion where I know that a differing opinion won’t result in a digital bloodbath. The online world would benefit greatly from such an approach.

Actually, BG should be glad I did that. It drew attention to the thing when it might have otherwise not. Forgive me for being so cynical. It’s my nature to be tough and judgmental because I come from the world of political debates, where there isn’t too many things you can joke around about without SOMEONE insulting you for it, and then those very people make light of or joke around about something that they shouldn’t be laughing at. It’s a different beast, let me tell you. And you could really grill a public official in a way I wish we could grill some of these hacks who run these game companies. God, I wish I could treat the gaming industry like I do politics, since I’ve been around both most of my life. Maybe that’s why I take things about this industry more seriously than anyone else.
I did treat this like it was that 9/11 “tribute” video that the GOP used during the RNC (see what I mean), and if I judged too soon about this site, then my sincerest apologies. I still think the way this was written, though, sent the wrong impression of what you were attempting, but whoever said Sony would’ve wanted people to see how far they could push the servers to test them out has a very good point. Still, though, it should’ve been more clearer (on both of our sides). So…carry on (not that I’m not going to call you or anyone else out in the future. Part of the reason why I HAVE that “Media Watch” is to call out those LIKE CNN Money (who…wasn’t CNN the idiots who hired Glenn Beck and Nancy “I know what you did last summer” Grace? That should tell you something about their “credibility”), Kotaku, and GameDaily. As you would be aware after seeing my site, I’ve caught quite a bit of stories where the entire truth was not said. I’m hoping I get someone I catch in the future to say something about what I said about their stories, and I hope I can help in changing how the media whore houses define journalism by my segments.

1st off Home is on multiple servers for each country/continent you won’t all be in the same server.

I completely do not understand how NXE gets brought up when Home gets brought up.
NXE is a free awesome graphical overhaul to the menu/dashboard system that came with a bonus of Netflix.
Home is a free optional addition to the PS3 that allows you to wait in a virtual line to play mediocre flash-like games and get molested by other users.
i own only sony consoles, but here lately i am getting closer to making the switch. home is a hd killer with no purpose. Bowling is better in gta, pool is almost unplayable due to not being able to see where you are aiming at. (i have a better game of pool on the 8 bit nes) and dont get me started on all the virgins who have never talked to a real, living and breathing female…lol..its pathetic…the little console games are ok but like everything else you have to stand around and wait for one to free up. couldnt a flash version been installed in the 3 gigs you stole from my hd????
