George Carlin: 1937-2008

When I was nine years old I snuck out of my bedroom to watch TV. I flipped through the channels, finding old cartoons and ads for some “stupid” coffee machine I’d never own (I have a coffee machine next to my bed now). After a while I stopped my channel flipping and stared in awe. “Hey,” I said to myself. “It’s Mr. Conductor!… what’s a ‘blowjob’?” That was the first time I ever saw the true George Carlin, and I was an immediate fan. I even skipped my senior prom to go see Carlin live.

George Carlin has died.

He was admitted to the St. John’s Health Center in Los Angeles last night, just before 9pm EST. A man who had a long history of heart problems was complaining of chest pains when he was admitted.

As a fan and as someone who idolized him in their youth, I never understood why I saw people on TV crying when their favorite actor or singer died. I think I get it now.

Oh fuck. I did not check the site right now thinking I would ever find news like this. Sad times, George Carlin was an amazing comedian and all around great person that spoke on the little things as well as stuff to change the world for the better. RIP.
