We called it, and sure enough it’s true — Microsoft has announced today that Epic Games is hard at work on Gears of War 2 for the Xbox 360.

At the tail end of Microsoft’s GDC keynote address, Cliff Bleszinski came on stage and announced publically that Gears of War 2 will be coming to the Xbox 360, and will be an Xbox 360 exclusive. This only fuels the rumors that Epic Games may, in fact, be bought by Microsoft later this year.

The other surprising note from the Gears of War 2 announcement was the scheduled release date: November 2008. That’s right, Gears of War 2 is due out this calendar year.
