Flagship Studios: We’re Not Dead! We Just Fired Everyone!

Just about every website on the ‘net has reported, in one form or another, the demise of Flagship Studios. However, in a statement issued today Flagship Studios CEO Bill Roper clarified that Flagship Studios is not dead. However, things at Flagship are not well, as the company has laid off “most” of its staff:
It is with deep regret that I must announce that Flagship Studios has laid off most employees. However, the core management and founding team members are still at Flagship. The past five years have been an incredible experience for us, but unfortunately, we couldn’t sustain the size of the company any longer.
Flagship also noted that they still own the rights to Hellgate: London, but that because of their current situation they will no longer accept new subscribers to the service — but if you already play Hellgate: London (which isn’t many, I assume) you’ll now be playing for free.
