Elebits 2 Coming to DS

Siliconera has found the scoop about GameFly putting up a placeholder page for Elebits 2. The sad news about this is the game has moved from the Wii to DS. Even sadder, is you might not care. When Elebits came out, even though there wasn’t too much competition, it wasn’t a game that many really were looking forward to or knew about. It was an unknown franchise and also elebitsboxart.jpgdid not have the best box art (honestly check it out to the right.. if I didn’t already know how great a game this is, that box would definitely not sway me).

I remember wanting to play the hell out of it after reading previews, as it was the first game to really grasp the Wiimote’s usage as first person shooter type controls, far more so than Red Steel. The whole game played as though you were using Half Life’s gravity gun, through the eyes of a child starting out inside a real home catching little aliens. The detail to items in the house was great and the create a level feature was pretty fun as well (add to all this it was the first game that used the Wii’s online connection so you could share your custom made levels).

I hope the DS does the game justice, as I don’t own the best handheld system (ever), so I probably won’t get to enjoy what will no doubt be a great game (despite missing it’s best feature, the Wiimote controls). I highly urge you all to go out to your local Blockbuster where Elebits on Wii can probably be found on shelves, throw the game in your GameFly queue, or even *gasp* buy the game ($19.99 @ Buy.com right now), because if you own a Wii and haven’t played this game, you are doing yourself a disservice by not playing this game.
