E3: Bungie “Cancels” Big Announcement

UPDATE: Their publisher is Microsoft — no shock there.

In a letter posted by Bungie’s Harold Ryan (who may or may not be Bungie’s president), it appears that Bungie’s big E3 announcement has been shitcanned by their unnamed publishers. The letter can be found on the Bungie splash page that previously featured the countdown clock:

From: Harold Ryan

Subject: E3 Announce

Fo the last several months, we’ve been building towards a reveal of something exciting that Bungie is working on. We were looking forward to sharing that with our fan community during the week of E3. However, those plans were just changed by our publisher.

We realize that many of our fans are disappointed by this turn of events; members of the Bungie team share that disappointment.

When the right time comes, we look forward to sharing this exciting announcement with you. Until then, we appreciate your continued support and patience.

Harold Ryan
President
Bungie LLC

…I’m calling bullshit. First of all, why would you put this up on the splash page instead of taking the splash page down and putting it on the homepage? Secondly, isn’t it just a little peculiar that this message was posted when the countdown clock hit the twelve hours remaining mark?

Hell, maybe I’m reading too much into it. Maybe they did cancel the announcement. Then again, maybe this is trademark Bungie, massively mindfucking the masses — just like always.
