If you are a GameTap user, you’re probably going to like this: GameTap has announced that [defunct] Ion Storm’s Deus Ex will be made available to play on their service starting early next week.
Oh, and it’s free. Completely free — if you’re willing to sit through a fifteen second commercial, of course.
Deus Ex is regarded amongst longtime PC gamers and developers alike as being one of the most groundbreaking, influential shooters to ever be. Without Deus Ex and its branching storyline, RPG elements, hundreds if not thousands of hours of character dialogue and superb first-person gameplay, the FPS market would not be what it is today.
Of course, if you are like me and bought Deus Ex some time ago on Steam, you’re probably pretty pissed off right now, but hey… shit happens. If you haven’t played this classic before, now is your chance — and then play through the sequel, Deus Ex: Invisible War. It’s a highly underrated gem.
