A countdown clock on the Cryptic Studios homepage has given new hope to Trekkies everywhere, as the image featured on said countdown clock is a piece of concept art associated with Star Trek Online

There’s the image in question, with the countdown clock in the right-hand upper left (Hey, I wrote this before I put the picture-in-picture together) corner to let you all compare images as you will.

The belief that Cryptic had taken over development first came about in March, when it was reported that Cryptic Studios (City of Heroes) had taken over the development reigns of Star Trek Online from Perpetual Entertainment. At the time the studio refused to comment on the matter, and it seemed as though it was just going to fade away. But now, thanks to a little countdown clock, we can expect to hear some kind of announcement on July 26th.
