Capcom Doesn’t Understand Good Movies, Supports Anderson on ‘Resident Evil 4′

Let’s get a couple of things straight right now — if you like the first Resident Evil movie, whatever. If you liked the second Resident Evil movie, you have no taste. If you liked the third Resident Evil movie, the one with the Jedi Mind Battle… you should be ashamed of yourselves. But no matter what, you shouldn’t blame Paul W.S. Anderson.

That’s what he’s trying to say, anyways.

Speaking with IGN, Anderson talked a bit about the next Resident Evil movie (oh, good God…). After telling us that he is currently writing the script for the fourth installment in his raping of Capcom’s survival/horror franchise, he talked about how he had to deal with a lot of complaints from fans of the games for the movies.

Once again we’re doing it completely with the blessing of the videogame company. We got a lot of flack [on the sequels] for, ‘Why isn’t the movie set in the mansion just exactly like the very first videogame?’ That’s just not progression for me. As the Resident Evil videogames themselves have developed in leaps and bounds — it’s like when we did the last movie people were like, ‘Resident Evil doesn’t take place in the desert. What the (expletive) is this?’ Well, where does Resident Evil take place? Does it take place in Raccoon City exclusively? Well, I don’t think so because the game has been in Antarctica, in Raccoon City, now it’s in Africa.

The game is constantly and so is the movie franchise. We’re doing it very much in conjunction with the developers of the videogame to give the audience something fresh but something that fits within the world of the videogame.

…dude, no. Just no. I admire your love of video games, but dude… you’re Uwe Boll with a budget. Death Race, Alien vs. Predator… the only reason Mortal Kombat was any good was because you didn’t write it.

I guess what I’m asking is… well… please stop making movies. Please?

The resident evil franchise is getting worse.I agree with that but i’m waiting to see what the next movie will be like.I saw resident evil degeneration and it was ok, but not the best thing.Just hopefully the stop when they have a chance.Just hope the game(resident evil 5) is way better than the movie(don’t know).
