Brutal Legend, Ghostbusters Not Cancelled

Yesterday the internet blew the hell up, with just about every news outlet wither speculating our flat-out saying that a bevy of Sierra and Vivendi games had been canceled by the new overlords at Activision. Amongst the games rumored to be canceled were Ghostbusters: The Video Game, Brutal Legend, The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, 50 Cent: Blood in the Sand and many others.

While the fates of Riddick and Half-Dollar remain up in the air, we know for a fact that both Brutal Legend and Ghostbusters are in good shape. A PR spokesperson has told us that “It is not canceled and will not be canceled”, and another person with ties to Ghostbusters: The Video Game responded to my email by simply saying that those who were reporting the game canceled “must get their journalistic integrity from Fox News”.

Brutal Legend was also confirmed as still alive by developer Double Fine on their Action News blog. On their latest post, the mouse-over text of the dead weevil simply says “Brutal Legend is fine.”

Hmm. Well, there you go. Ghostbusters and Brutal Legend are fine, and once we hear anything about Riddick of Fiddy, we’ll be sure to let you know.
